INTERNATIONAL SERVICE DISRUPTIONS

 

HEADLINE COUNTRIES

 

TURKEY – Following the major earthquakes & infrastructure damages, flights are limited, and in country there are extensive delays. Provinces that suffered major damage in Turkey, and have little or no delivery service: Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Gaziantep, Osmaniye, Malatya, Adiyaman, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis and Sanliurfa in the South of Turkey.

 

UNITED KINGDOM – Heathrow Airport Security staff are striking for 7-10 days, subject to negotiation. Impact is to people travelling on vacation as the check in times to meet flight departure are greatly extended. The strike is not impacting cargo/mail shipments.

 

OTHER DELAYS

 

AFGHANISTAN – All mail and parcel services suspended indefinitely.

 

MADAGASCAR, MALAWI, MOZAMBIQUE – All impacted by cyclone Freddy in March – ongoing delays while clean up and recovery continue.

 

SOUTH AFRICA – SAPO (South African Post Office) has been struggling to pay employees and has extended delivery times. SA government are working to put together new framework to expand the mandate and providing them funding to meet delivery times

 

ISRAEL POST- Ongoing delays with final delivery due to cyberattack

 

PERU – The civil unrest and protests now ceased. The post announced that there are some delays

during recover & clearing of backlog deliveries.

 

IT CHALLENGES – Argentina, Norway have some IT issues preventing 100% delivery scans; the posts are working urgently to resolve the issue.
