INTERNATIONAL SERVICE DISRUPTIONS

 

HEADLINE COUNTRIES

 

AUSTRALIA – Western Australia has rail network disruption, and areas between Croydon and Karumba, QLD are subject to delays.

 

FINLAND – Both the Transport Union and the Postal Workers union conducted a series of strike actions fro 15th to 21st February. This has caused a back log and Finland Post advise all customers to expect delays for final delivery up to 5 days. Finland Post report that they expect to have cleared all backlogs next week.

 

FRANCE – Industrial action in France for 48 hours commencing January 31st is expected to cause 1-2 day delays for material going into the country by road.

 

GERMANY – In additional to postal worker strikes earlier, the airline & transportation unions called strike actions which have caused severe delay for material arriving into Frankfurt – the airport hopes to have the backlogs cleared for onward handover to postal operators and carriers shortly.

 

NEW ZEALAND – Extreme flash flooding has impacted Auckland & the North Island. Torrential rain continues with mudslides reported. Flights in to Auckland are resumed, but there are on going in country delays following the flooding and recent cyclone Gabrielle events.

 

TURKEY – Following the major earthquakes & infrastructure damages, flights are limited, and in country there are extensive delays. Provinces that suffered major damage in Turkey, and have little or no delivery service: Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Gaziantep, Osmaniye, Malatya, Adiyaman, Adana, Diyarbakir, Kilis and Sanliurfa in the South of Turkey.

 

OTHER DELAYS

 

AFGHANISTAN – All mail and parcel services suspended indefinitely.

 

PERU – The government has declared a state of emergency due to disruption causing road closures, and civil unrest. Deliveries in to the country are subject to delay.
